Seed Story

Allium Moly is a long-established favourite in traditional gardens. It is one of the few ornamental alliums to offer bright yellow blooms – a welcome shift from the purple tones more commonly associated with ornamental alliums. It has been cultivated for centuries across Europe, prized for its happy, sunny presence and dependable nature.

Native to the mountainous regions of Spain and southern France, this species is ideally suited to dry, sunny spots and often seen in gravel gardens, Mediterranean borders, and amongst herbs or groundcovers. Its name, moly, has roots in ancient mythology – said to be a magical flower in Homer’s Odyssey – though its true appeal lies in how easily it lifts a planting scheme.

Tough, charming, and elegantly impactful, Allium moly will bring happiness to the garden year after year.
