Tulipa clusiana – often known as the Lady Tulip – is one of the oldest tulips in cultivation. Native to Iran and Afghanistan, it was brought to Europe in the 1600s and named after the botanist Carolus Clusius, who played a key role in introducing tulips to Western gardens.
Slim, graceful, and often two-toned, clusiana tulips open wide in sunlight and close again at dusk – a daily performance that adds to their charm.
They’re true species tulips, known for their ability to return reliably year after year, often increasing gently over time.
