Alpine Strawberry ‘Mignonette’
£2.65

Fragaria Vesca – 0.013g – Approx 50 Seeds
There is one strawberry so special it has something of a cult status!
Strawberry ‘Mignonette’ is a French heirloom from the 1800s – an alpine variety treasured for its exceptional fragrance and unique flavour. Unlike the larger, traditional strawberries that we tend to grow, Mignonette produces a steady stream of petite, intensely aromatic berries that are unlike anything you’ll find in a supermarket.
Surface sow in trays Jan – Apr at approx 20°c. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant to small pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Harden off and plant out after the risk of frost has passed (typically May – July). Harvest throughout summer. Early sown plants may fruit in the first year.

Seed Story
In France, alpine strawberries are known for their perfume above all else. They’re best enjoyed fresh from the plant or added to simple dishes such as crème fraîche or yoghurt to allow their scent and incomparable flavour to really shine. They are far too delicate for commercial processing, so you won’t find them in supermarkets, which makes them a real gourmet ingredient – prized by top chefs and pâtissiers. A true garden treasure like no other.
